New Exhibit: Comics Movies

comics_==_moviesComic book movies are big business and a cultural juggernaut. A new exhibit on the 2nd floor of the Henderson Library highlights some of the ways these movies have been influenced by their comic book sources and also how occasionally the movies inspire changes in comics.  The exhibit focuses on characters from Marvel (Captain America, Deadpool, Thor etc), DC (Superman, Batman, Suicide Squad) and also Dark Horse Comics (The Mask, Hellboy, Sin City).

Comics and critical books used in the display come from the library’s collections and from the personal collections of several library employees.  In addition Galactic Comics and Games of Statesboro has loaned the library nine comic books and six statutes and action figures including:  Superman, Star Lord (wearing his costume from the comics), Batman and sidekicks (from “The Dark Knight Returns,” “The Dark Knight Strikes Again,” and “The Dark Knight Rises”), and Harley Quinn (from “Suicide Squad”).

*Comics and figures are copyright Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse Comics.
