HOT DOC – ACS questions on chopping block: public comments welcome!

A new article on the American Association for the Advancement of Science website discusses the Census Bureau’s proposal to cut several questions from the American Community Survey, a proposal that the article presents as a response to Congressional critics of the ACS:

Can Question No. 12 Survive? Researchers Fight to Retain a Question About College Degrees on American Community Survey

The article notes that the proposal, published in the October 31 Federal Register, is open for public comments.

The article also quotes a Census Bureau official as saying he has “no dog in the fight,” but as a gov info enthusiast, maybe you feel like you do. Comments are due December 30.  If you’re interested in more background on this, the Census Project Blog has been covering it for quite a while.
