SUBJECT: Video drivers and AutoCAD

COMMENT:
I would like to the drivers for the monitors updated in the learning commons. Especially on the work stations with 2 monitors. The Dell monitors have the ability to be viewed in portrait or landscape, but right now you can only view them in landscape. It would be nice to have the ablitity to have one monitor in one orientation and one in the other. This would make working on some projects a lot eaiser. We have all this new nice technology, it is just a shame we can't use it to its maximum potential. Please let me know if you find a solution to this problem.

RESPONSE:
Thank you for your suggestion. I shared it with David Lowder, head of the Systems Department, and the following is his response:

When installing the latest batch of computers we ran into numerous conflicts between various software products not wanting to work together. One of those conflicts was getting AutoCAD to work with the video drivers. Since we were under a time constraint to get the computers ready for opening the Learning Commons, we decided to make it our priority to make sure that AutoCAD worked and work later on getting the rotating displays to work. Since our opening we have been able to resolve the problem and when we update the computers over the Christmas break that feature will be included. We don't have the network capacity to update more than just a few computers in the middle of a semester without slowing down everyone's work.
We are going to go ahead and update the computers with the dual monitors this week.

Please let me know if you have other questions or comments.
