SUBJECT: Hours of service & quiet floor
COMMENT:
post the floor operation hours on the website!!!
also keep one of the quiet floors open longer than 12!!
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your suggestion. I will pass the web site suggestion on to the
appropriate department head. Overnight service was originally provided on only
one floor. It was expanded to two floors several years ago when more staff
were employed. From October 2006 until September 21, 2008, the entire building
was open because it was so much smaller than the original building. Now that
the building is much bigger, we must limit service to two floors. There are
a dozen study rooms on first floor with unrestricted access. Groups take precedence
over individuals, but it's unlikely all twelve will be needed for groups between
midnight and 7:30 am when the entire library is open. If you can't find a quiet
place anywhere on first or second floor, you could check the study rooms to
see if they are all in use by groups. If any has a single occupant, you could
knock and ask that person if you could share the space for quiet study.
Please let us know if you have other suggestions or questions about library
services.
