Comment: Please add Microsoft Works to the computers in the Library. Some students do not have access to Word and other Microsoft programs

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I forwarded it to David Lowder, Head of Systems. Here is his response:

Software on the public computers in the library is primarily provided by campus-wide purchases such as the Microsoft Office suite. Some departments on campus that wish to cover the cost of providing specialized software for their students will also pay for sufficient licenses for the library. Microsoft Works doesn't fit under either of these categories.

While the library can't afford to purchase MS Works for a large number of the public computers, we have ordered one copy of MS Works and it will be installed at the MAA Help Desk on the first floor. That way if you bring in a disk with a Microsoft Works file that you need to print, they will be able assist you.
