Comment: How will the construction effect students going in and out of the library?

RESPONSE:

Thank you for your questions. The construction process will be carefully planned and scheduled so that the Library can maintain its regular schedule and cause minimal disruption for customers and employees. The current plan is to begin the project by building the larger of the two planned additions. That may involve closing access to the porch on the side of the building adjoining the construction area.

Comment: When is construction slated to begin and end?

RESPONSE:

The project has not yet been funded by the legislature. We hope to get that funding during the 2003 legislative session. It will be some time after we get funding before construction can actually begin. The current estimate is that if we get funding we may able to begin construction in early fall 2003. The estimated time between the beginning of construction and completion of the building is two years. That makes the approximate completion date some time late in 2005 or early in 2006. Please keep in mind that these are all estimates based on when the project gets funding from the legislature.
