Photograph taken from Reflector, GTC yearbook, for one of the years Pittman was president. |
In the mid-1930s, Dr. Marvin S. Pittman was hired as president of
[Georgia Teachers College]. Pittman's career as an educator had been
successful since his early days as a classroom teacher in Louisiana.
Within only a few years of his arrival in Statesboro, Pittman was elected
to several major statewide positions for educators in the state of
Georgia, including the presidency of the Georgia Association of Colleges
in 1938. Novotny, p. 8 |
