The Crowd Gathered Early

This photograph appeared on page 10 of The Atlanta Journal's July 15, 1941 issue. It shows the crowd gathering for the Cocking-Pittman hearing before the Board of Regents on July 14. The photograph caption reads:
"Spectators came early for the Cocking-Pittman trial, and when the Board remained long in closed executive session they grew restless, got up and clogged the Capitol's corridors, waiting for the Regents to come out. This shows the crowd as the hall filled and emptied with the huge throng that came to see and hear. This milling in and out continued for almost an hour while the board threshed out its private business, and then the chamber was packed to the bursting point as the trial actually got under way."
