Dr. Marvin S. Pittman comes to South Georgia Teachers College from Michigan State Normal School were he was Director of Rural Education.
 
In 1934 the Georgia Board of Regents selected Dr. Marvin S. Pittman to replace retiring President Guy H. Wells as head of the South Georgia Teachers College. 

Dr. Pittman was chosen under a new set-up instituted by the Board that Wells to Transfer to the presidency of G. S. C. W.. 

Pittman became head of S.G.T.C on July 1

Dr. Pittman was also the author of numerous books and publications on education and a member of a variety of local and national organization and fraternities.
