The collection consists of papers relating to Leodel Coleman's World War II service from 1942-1945. Includes stories for local newspapers about the U.S. Marine Corps mainly regarding promotions, weddings, and purple heart recipients; letters to and from Margaret Mitchell while Coleman was stationed in the Pacific; and correspondence to and from family and friends.
