This is a bust of Dr. Ronald J. Neil, former Emeritus Professor of Music at Georgia Southern. (He died in 1991.) The bust was created by Robert A. Mayer, an Associate Professor of Music here in the 1970s. The Neil collection includes Dr. Neil's papers, an extensive collection of sheet music, and the Neil Collection of Music Discography (Dr. Neil's collection of record catalogs) in Rare Books. Special Collections also houses the Ronald J. Neil collection of phonograph records, a large collection of 78's and LP's, mostly of classical music. |
