The Confederate veterans of Bulloch County, Camp no. 1227
of the United Confederate Veterans, are shown at their reunion on
Wednesday, July 19, 1911. The "old boys," as they were by that time
affectionately known, stand before the Jaeckel Hotel, one of Statesboro's
most important sites, which had that very year hosted William Jennings
Bryan. Sadly, the Jaeckel entered a period of decline in the 1960's, but
it has recently been restored and now serves as City Hall.
