The new RefWorks 2.0 beta interface is now active at GSU. You can instantly toggle back and forth between the new and classic interfaces by clicking on the “RefWorks Classic” or “RefWorks 2.0” links after you log in.RefWorks 2.0 is still in Beta, but is very stable and functional.
The Classic interface will be supported until July 2011.
What is RefWorks?
RefWorks is a web-based application provided by the Henderson Library that will allow you to:
- Gather references automatically from book and article databases and web pages while you research
- Format your papers and citations instantly in a wide variety of styles (MLA, APA, Turabian, etc.)
- Create and organize a personal online database of your research sources
- Access your information online from any computer, anywhere, anytime, even from your smart phone
- Share your databases with anyone, even if they don’t have a Refworks account
- Transfer references between Refworks and other citation style managers such as Endnote and Zotero
Create an Account and Login
- If you are on campus, go to the RefWorks login page and click on the “Sign up for an individual account” link to create an account
- If you are off-campus, you will need the GALILEO password to create an account. Click here for information on how to obtain the GALILEO password.
- After you have the GALILEO password, click here to access RefWorks through our proxy server and then create a Refworks account by clicking on the “Sign up for an Individual Account” link.
- You may get messages about unsecure content or invalid security certificates. As long as you are following these links, you can click to accept the content since we have verified them as safe.
Important Tip – when creating a new Georgia Southern RefWorks account, you must use an @georgiasouthern.edu email address. Endnote is a citation style manager that is comparable to RefWorks. At Georgia Southern the desktop version of this program can be obtained from the "Download Software" link after logging into My.GeorgiaSouthern.edu or directly at https://download.georgiasouthern.edu/. In addition, the easier to use Web version of Endnote can be accessed after creating an account and logging into the Web of Knowledge database on GALILEO at http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=webk-gso1. Tutorials, online instructions sessions, and other support material for Endnote can be found at http://www.endnote.com/
