The ARS Pesticide Properties Database
Maintained by the Agricultural Research Service's (ARS) Remote Sensing and Modeling Lab, the ARS Pesticide Properties Database is a compendium of chemical and physical properties of 324 widely used pesticides. The database is organized alphabetically and focuses on 16 important
properties affecting transport and degradation characteristics of pesticides under different soil and weather conditions. For each pesticide you will find information on CASRN, Molecular formula,
Molecular weight, Physical state, Boiling point, Melting point, Decomposition point, Heat of
vaporization, Rate Constants-Hydrolysis (Photolysis), Vapor pressure, Water solubility, Organic
solubility, Henry's Law, Octanol/water partitioning, Acid dissociation, Soil sorption, Field
dissipation, and Soil halflife (aerobic, anaerobic). Also provided are several sections describing the properties and units of pesticide parameters, a Coden list, and links to related sites.

The Georgia Learning Alliance
The Georgia Learning
Alliance, an initiative by the University System, debuted November 1998. This web site provides a
starting point for anyone seeking information about distance education in the University System of
Georgia. It includes a searchable database of distance education courses and the SREC (Southern
Regional Electronic Campus) database, which includes institutions in 16 states that are members of
the SREB (Southern Regional Education Board). For those who need customized training, there is
a place to describe and submit their needs.
Healthcare Reportcards
uses Medica mortality and surgical-complication data to award hospitals one- to five-star ratings in five fields: cardiac, orthopedic and vascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, and pulmonary and respiratory medicine. The fields of obstetrics, oncology and transplants will be added later this year. From this site you can choose the type of procedure you need, select a specific geographic region (such as Florida) and the site will provide you with an explanation of the data sources and methods of analysis.

ASHA is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to stopping sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The site has links to STD information, a sexual health glossary, and an online catalog of educational material (some
bilingual). The various STD hotlines (AIDS, herpes, etc.) are listed with 800 numbers for English,
Spanish, and TTY service for the deaf.
Giza Plateau Mapping Project
This site is of a project mapping the settlements of ancient Egypt at Giza. The annual reports for the project for 1991-1996 are available and contain the findings for each year. While the computer model for the Giza Plateau is still in development, models for Khufu pyramid and others are available, as is a rendering for the courtyard of the Sphinx temple. Included is a reprint of an article titled "Excavation at Giza 1988-1991: The Location and Importance of the Pyramid Settlement" by Mark Lehner, Associate Professor of Egyptology at the University of Chicago.
