URLs for related material
Some bibliographic records are beginning to include 856 fields
containing Web links related to the item (publisher links, table of
contents, partial
contents) we are cataloging.
We will retain these links as
a general rule. Please do not delete the links unless they are
inactive or do not accurately represent the title being cataloged.
URLs providing free access to the title
As with Government
Documents, some titles (physical format) are also available free in
full text
online. Bibliographic records for these titles will require a 530 field
indicating that the title is also available on the Internet.
The 856 field for
physical titles with free web access should follow the format:

Delete only links that do not lead to active websites or require a
subscription to
access them.
URLs for Rand
Corporation publications
We will add the URL to bibliographic records for RAND publications
which are available free in fulltext online. Access the website at http://www.rand.org/
and enter the title from the 245 field into the search box in the upper
right corner of the web page. Select the appropriate title from the
results list and verify the date from the information summary in the
upper right corner of the page.
Scroll down the page and verify that the full document is accessible
from this page for this title. If fulltext is available, copy the
internet address and paste it into a bibliographic and holding record
856 field following the established format (856 41 $u [address here] $z
