Bibliographic Imports and Exports

Export Records from GIL Libraries		Importing Records into Voyager

Double-click on the OCLC Connexion client icon on your computer desktop
Click on the magnifying glass icon on the Connexion toolbar
Enter the Authorization number and Password in the Logon OCLC Connexion window
Click OK
Close the next window that pops up
Enter your search in the Search Worldcat window and click OK

(This will be done once for each Connexion session)

Display the desired bibliographic record
Click on the Export icon on the toolbar (the E with a green arrow beside it)
Update library symbol if necessary (Click on the icon with a yellow up arrow on toolbar)

Open your Internet browser and go to http://connexion.oclc.org/
Type in the Authorization.
Type in the Password.
Press Enter or Click the Logon button on the screen.
Click Search at the upper left corner of the screen.
Enter the SuDoc search in the Command Line Search box using gn:[SuDoc number, no spaces or punctuation here]
Click on Search below this section or press Enter.

If the SuDoc search doesn’t work, then Click on Browse at the top of the screen and enter your title search in the box.

With the desired record displayed, select Export Record in MARC
Click OK when you see Downloading Mexport.
Select your Import file(example: C:Oclcapps/Passport/Marc Records). This would be the file that you normally use for importing into Voyager.
Rename the File before saving.
Click on Save.
Import the records into Voyager as usual.

After each title is saved in the Save File:

Select Save File
Search the Save File for your records (Type the name of your save file, select my status and Click Search)
Flag all Records retrieved, then Export Flagged records
Click OK when you see DownloadingClientTag.
Select your Import file(example: C:Oclcapps/Passport/Marc Records). This would be the file that you normally use for importing into Voyager.
Save the file

Return to Voyager.
Select Record from the menu bar.
Select Import/From New File from the pull-down menus.
Open the import file.
Click on the first title to open the bibliographic record
Search the Sudoc number (MFHD Call number) in Voyager Cataloging to retrieve the temp record.
Tile the records on the screen (Alt-W-T) so that both are fully visible.
Verify that the OCLC record that you have chosen matches the temp record
Copy the field containing the OCLC number (035a) from the imported record to the temp record, suppress the temp record and Save the changes to the database. (If you forget to suppress the record, please notify a Cataloger.)
Examine the bibliographic record:

035 ǂa	GPO, OCLC, GPM numbers only
049	Change to GPMD
074	Must match temp- copy from temp to imported record if not present
086	Must match temp and piece- copy from temp to imported record if not present
245 260 300	Must match piece- don’t edit unless there are spelling errors
500	Shipping list number note must be present
650 651	must have 2nd indicator 0 or 7, delete others (2,4,8)

Access Voyager.
Select Search.
Select Remote.
Choose the Libraries to search and double click each. (UGA/Valdosta) Make sure the names appear on the right under Database Name.
Select Connect.
The Voyager Search function now searches the selected libraries.
Search by title or call number.
Verify that bibliographic information matches the piece.
Save to database and the record is now in Georgia Southern’s Voyager database.
Proceed with processing as usual.
The libraries selected for searching must be removed.
Select Search.
Select Remote.
Highlight the names of the libraries to be removed and select Delete.
Select Connect and return to the Georgia Southern database.
