FAQs for FACULTY |
How do I get a book from the automated system? When you look up a book in the online catalog and you find that it is in the automated system, you can place the request from the computer you’re using. That will send the message to the automated system to retrieve the book, and you can pick it up from the circulation desk. After we move into the addition, that process should only take about fifteen minutes. It will take longer until the addition is open to the public. What books are in remote storage? Books that have not circulated in the last ten years and Georgia and federal documents are in remote storage. How can I browse the collections when so many books are no longer on the open shelves? You can do a call number search in the online catalog that will show you all the books in that call number range. If some of the books in that range are not on the open shelves, you can request them from the automated system or remote storage. When you book is delivered, you are not required to check it out if it does not meet your need. To do a call number search: Just above the GIL Quick Search bar, you will see a tab that says “Exact Search.” Click on that tab, and choose the Call Number search option. Enter the desired call number in the “Search For” box at the top of the screen. For example, if you enter PN3300 you will get a list of call numbers beginning with PN3305 which is the first number in that range. Can I get books delivered to my office? Yes, you can get books delivered if you take the following steps: Click on the “Request” button at the top of the page. Log in to “My Account” Enter your Eagle ID or click the button to the left that allows you to enter your Social Security number.
