Low and Slow

A Film Screening by Monica Delgado
Nessmith-Lane Conference Center
Assembly Hall – Rm. 1915

Thursday, March 31, 2016 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Award-winning Latina documentary filmmaker, Monica Delgado, will screen and discuss her film on the history of lowriders in the American Southwest. Delgado traces the beginnings of this popular motorsport to the Mexican barrios of East Los Angeles and follows the multigenerational Dukes Car Club as it evolves to a worldwide organization. The film demonstrates how the unique artistic and engineering innovations of lowriders have captured the imagination of the nation and the world. Delgado will pose questions regarding ethnic identity, cultural exchange, and the role of family tradition within the Latino community. The goal of this discussion is to highlight both unique and universal elements of the Latino American experience.
