New Exhibit: The Work of John Abbot: Ornithologist, Entomologist and Artist
Do you know who John Abbot was? During the late 1700s, he relocated to Georgia and began to discover and record several previously unknown species of birds and insects. The watercolor paintings Abbot created from his observations have since become world renown, and he is considered one of the greatest early American naturalists.
Zach S. Henderson Library has installed an exhibit entitled “The Work of John Abbot: Ornithologist, Entomologist, and Artist” which offers an overview of Abbot’s life, career, and work, as well as some of his original watercolors. Come see some of Abbot’s beautiful creations on display now on the second floor of the library near the browsing books area.
