Henderson Library Team Selected for AiA Learning Community
The Association of College and Research Libraries has selected 73 institutional teams to participate in the second year of the program Assessment in Action: Academic Libraries and Student Success (AiA). The program is made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and carried out in partnership with the Association for Institutional Research and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. The teams, representing all types of institutions, come from 34 states and 1 Canadian province.
As one of the 73 universities, Georgia Southern’s Zach S. Henderson Library is proud to have been selected to participate in the AiA program.The library’s team comprises Dr. Steven Engel, Honors Program Director; Dr. Steven Burrell, Vice President for Instructional Technology and Chief Information Officer; Dr. Michael Jordan, Associate Director of Assessment; and Dr. Sonya S. Shepherd, Library Assessment Officer as the librarian team leader. Over the next 14 months, the Henderson Library team will examine the relationship between library usage among freshmen students enrolled in Freshman Seminar (FYE 1220), Composition I (Eng 1101), and Composition II (Eng 1102), and their GPA and retention. Library utilization includes database usage, computer logins, Interlibrary Loan and GIL Express (book sharing), and online and print book check outs.
