Marvin Goss, 1948-2012
“STATESBORO, Ga. – Mr. Marvin Goss, age 63, died January 5th, 2012, in Statesboro. The Marietta, Georgia, native graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1966. He then received his B.A. and M.A. in English from Georgia State University and his MLN, Library Science, from Emory University. Mr. Goss moved to Statesboro in 1983 and began his career with Georgia Southern University, where he served as a librarian at Zach S. Henderson Library and was the head of Special Collections. He was also very active with the Bulloch County Historical Society. Mr. Goss was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Goss.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Hughes of Statesboro; a daughter, Sarah Goss of Stone Mountain; his parents, Roy and Annie Goss of Marietta; a brother, David Goss of Marietta; a niece, Amanda Goss of Marietta; a nephew and his wife, Matthew and Salma Goss of Marietta; and two great-nephews, Jackson Goss and Nix Gibson, both of Marietta.
The memorial service will be Sunday, January 15th, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Statesboro, 609 East Grady Street, Statesboro, Georgia 30458. The Reverend Jane Page will be officiating.
