Historical Details from Books: Design, Printing and Bookmaking

Henderson Library,Room # 1300, First Floor

Tuesday, December 6, 2011 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Lecture by Dr. Don Armel, Graphic Communications Management, Georgia Southern University.
This presentation is based on the holdings of Henderson Library’s Special Collections. We will look at the details of printing and binding with real books ranging from 1450 to 1899. Through time the use of type has changed: spelling has changed: paper has changed but the art and craft of making books has changed little. The presentation covers the era of Gutenberg, Baskerville, and Franklin.
