Hot Doc: Government Shutdown

**Second Update:  The Office of Management and Budget has provided this memo reflecting the current situation of a possible shutdown of the federal government:

**Update:  According to Kathryn Brazee of the Education and Outreach branch of GPO, “Should a shutdown occur, GPO does plan to continue posting content from Congress and the Office of the Federal Register on FDsys.  GPO also plans to keep the CGP up and running, but we will not be performing any bibliographic maintenance, such as fixing any broken PURLs.”**

What about the Government Printing Office and government documents access during a government shutdown?

This article from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management explains precisely what will happen to employees of federal agencies in the event of a shutdown:

Most of our government agencies’ and departments’ activities won’t be considered “excepted”, and will be suspended, and this will impact access to many government documents on their websites. This article from Computer World gives a good explanation of how much more impact this shutdown will have on citizens trying to access government information than the last one 15 years ago:
