NASA MESSENGER’s Mission to Mercury

NASA released the first orbital image of Mercury on Tuesday afternoon, taken by MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry, and Ranging (MESSENGER)On March 29, the Mercury Dual Imaging System was turned on and began capturing the first of thousands of orbital images. View some of the images taken since Tuesday here. These images take approximately 6 minutes to travel from the spacecraft to Earth. Enjoy the show and check back over the next few days as they continue to add more photos.
