The RefWorks 2.0 Beta Interface is now available at GSU

Georgia Southern users now have the option to use the 2.0 Beta interface for RefWorks.  Just go to the library’s RefWorks page  http://library.georgiasouthern.edu/refworks/index.html and click on the “RefWorks login page ” link and from that point on you can click on the “Refworks 2.0” link to switch to the new interface at any time.  Clicking on the “RefWorks Classic” link will instantly take you back to the old interface.  There are still a few features like the Output Style Editor and Write-N-Cite that won’t switch to the new interface until the official release early new year, but the Beta is stable and offers some new features and all the features of the old interface in a more streamlined design.
More detailed information (including links to tutorials) can be found on the library RefWorks page, but basically this application can make life easier for anyone who researches and/or writes papers.  RefWorks can very easily save citations from any online database or let you type in information about a print resource, then let you organize and share those references however you want using its folder system, and finally, easily cite them in any style you need such as APA, MLA or Chicago/Turabian.
We usually schedule three workshops a semester on RefWorks.  The next one is Wednesday, Sept. 15th, 3-5 pm in room 1302, and the one after that is Tuesday, Oct. 5th, 3-5 pm in room 1302.  I will also be giving a 20-minute RefWorks demo during the first part of the Information Services Meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 13th at 4 pm in the 3rd floor conference room.  Anyone who wants to see the new interface or learn about RefWorks for the first time is encouraged to attend these training sessions (register here) or contact me to set up a different training session.  This application isn’t that widely known on campus yet, so please consider telling others about it when you have the opportunity.
Thanks,
–Tony
