Meet our new librarian, Jessica Minihan
Jessica grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and also loves to visit Estes Park, Colorado. Her favorite book is Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. She and her dog Cordy also enjoy sci-fi television shows and horror movies.
“My mom started taking me to the public library when I was 8 months old for story time, and by the time I was three I had my own library card,” says Jessica. “I’ve always enjoyed reading, and libraries have always felt like my native environment since I grew up in them. However, I never really considered librarianship as a career because it seemed too easy and too fun to be a real job. Thankfully, my high school librarian set me straight and told me about graduate programs for Information Science (or “Library School,” as these programs are often called).”
Jessica graduated cum laude from Maryville College in Tennessee with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Statistics; and earned her MS of Information Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was previously the Electronic Resources Librarian at the University of Mississippi, and now coordinates a team of three other staff (Greg Vaughan, Sue Murray, and Linda Hendrix) to manage the complex subscriptions, licenses, invoices, access, usage, etc., for print and electronic resources at the Zach S. Henderson Library.
Welcome to the Boro, Jessica!
