Hot Doc: FOIA “Report Card”

Have you heard about the Freedom Of Information Act dashboard plan? President Obama is pushing for more openness in government with his Open Government Directive, and the Department of Justice, which is required by federal law to provide guidance and compliance reporting on FOIA-related issues for other agencies, is helping out by comparing 92 government agencies regarding their openness compliance. The hope is that this “report card” will encourage more compliance by drawing attention to performance, good and bad, in the area of openness. See the article for the complete details, including the timeline for implementation.
