70th Anniversary Celebration
Henderson Library’s Government Documents Department is celebrating it’s 70th anniversary as a Federal Depository library next Wednesday, November 4th from 2-4 in Room 1102 (big room seen through the Atrium on 1st floor). We have a diverse selection of speakers to give our audience a true sense of what it means to be a depository, the current situation and future direction of the Government Printing Office and the Federal Depository Library Program, a look at what Georgia depository libraries are doing, a flashback in time to our “early” and “earlier” years as a depository and as a library, and last, a speech by the former First Lady of the State of Georgia and niece of Senator Richard Russell, Betty Russell Vandiver about Senator Russell.
We will have a reception in Room 1300 and provide tours at the conclusion of the formal program.
We hope everyone will join in our celebration Wednesday at 2 to learn interesting facts from our former and current Regional Depository Librarians for the state of Georgia, our University Historian, Dr. Delma Presley, and as a special treat, from Robin Haun-Mohamed of the Government Printing Office who will present Zach S. Henderson Library with a certificate honoring our 70th anniversary in addition to speaking about the GPO and FDLP today.
See you there!
