Library Updates – New Databases and Resources for Spring!

The Georgia Southern University Libraries are excited to announce the following updates to our collections:

New Database Now Available – Women’s Studies Manuscript Collections from the Schlesinger Library:  Voting Rights, National Politics, and Reproductive Rights
The University Libraries now subscribe to Women’s Studies Manuscript Collections from the Schlesinger Library: Voting Rights, National Politics, and Reproductive Rights. This collection consists of records of suffrage organizations and other women’s rights organizations; personal papers of women’s rights advocates, many of whom were involved in the suffrage movement; and records on women at work during World War II. New Journal Now Available – Journal of the Civil War Era
The University Libraries now subscribe to Journal of the Civil War Era. According to the publisher website, this journal “publishes the most creative new work on the many issues raised by the sectional crisis, war, Reconstruction, and memory of the country’s signal conflict, while bringing fresh understanding to the struggles that defined the period, and by extension, the course of American history in the nineteenth century.”

For Savannah and Liberty Campuses / Lane Library, Journal of the Civil War Era is available via GIL-Find.

For Statesboro Campus / Henderson Library, Journal of the Civil War Era is available via GIL-Find and Discover.

New Magazine Now Available – CQ Magazine
The University Libraries now subscribe to CQ Magazine. According to CQ Press, “no matter what legislative issue you follow or research, CQ Magazine is the one source that can be relied on to cover it, to make it simple to understand, and to do so in a manner that is even-handed and accurate.”

For Savannah and Liberty Campuses / Lane Library, CQ Magazine is available via GIL-Find.

For Statesboro Campus / Henderson Library, CQ Magazine is available via Discover and GIL-Find.

Cambridge University Press Journals Is Now Cambridge Core (Plus New Titles!)
The Cambridge University Press Journals database has a new website and a new name, Cambridge Core. Plus, as part of consolidation, the Statesboro campus now has access to some new Cambridge titles; take a look.

New Database Now Available to the Statesboro Campus – Policy Map
As part of consolidation, students, faculty, and staff at the Statesboro campus are gaining access to several new databases and expanded library content. PolicyMap brings sophisticated data, mapping and analytics to fields beyond traditional GIS and planning departments.  From public health to sociology and law, faculty, and staff can use PolicyMap to create maps, reports and analyses to enable a deeper understanding of crucial areas in their fields.

New Database Now Available to the Statesboro Campus – EEBO: Early English Books Online
In addition to Policy Map, students, faculty, and staff at the Statesboro campus now have access to EEBO: Early English Books Online. This collection contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from 1473-1700 – from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare and the tumult of the English Civil War.

Credo Reference – New Titles Now Available
Credo Reference contains entries from encyclopedias on all subjects, including the full content of the Credo Academic Core collection. The following titles recently have been added, check them out:

Films on Demand – New Titles Now Available
Films on Demand consists of 15,500 video titles (77,000 segments) in Humanities & Social Sciences, Business & Economics, Health, and Science, and new titles are being added all the time; check them out:

Wiley Online Library – New & Improved User Interface Now Available
Wiley Online Library has migrated to Literatum, powered by Atypon, the leading provider of scholarly publishing platforms. According to Wiley, with this platform upgrade, “researchers continue to benefit from the wide range of scholarly content and resources to explore and advance knowledge within their fields, while maintaining simplicity and ease-of-use. Easily discover new research content and continue to access tools to assist you in facilitating and optimizing the research process.” For more information about the new platform, download this information sheet.

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Now Available on the A-Z Database List for the Statesboro Campus
NAICS is used by business and government to classify business establishments in Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America according to type of economic activity.
