Henderson Library Celebrates the Freedom to Read during Banned Books Week, Sept. 27- Oct. 3, 2015.
For the third consecutive year, Henderson Library is pleased to participate in the American Library Association’s celebration of Banned Books Week. From September 27- October 3, libraries of all types throughout the U.S. will host events and activities to bring awareness to books being challenged in schools and libraries across the country. Some of these books continue to include titles like: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the Harry Potter series, and many others.
Henderson Library invites all interested faculty, students, staff and community members, to participate in Banned Books Week by recording a ‘Virtual-Readout’: a 3-5 minute video of a reading from or discussion about a banned or challenged book of the reader’s choice. Readers also may make a video on their phone or other mobile device and send it to the library. Videos will be uploaded to the library’s online guide for the event as well as ALA’s Virtual Readout YouTube channel.
For more information on how you may participate, please contact either Ruth Baker (email@example.com) or Jessica Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org). Be sure to check out our online guide (http://georgiasouthern.libguides.com/bbw2015 ) during Banned Books Week!
